Winter Wardrobe Essentials

Dark Denim:

I wear light-wash, black/charcoal jeans just about every day in the Winter and recently thought it was time to break out all my favorite pairs now that it’s finally starting to feel like Winter over here in LA. I often find myself in all-black outfits and I always hate looking like I’m going to a funeral or could successfully work backstage at a play, so adding charcoal/dark grey jeans to my wardrobe to change it up just a little was so essential and made getting dressed every morning ten times easier. To me, they always add a cool aspect to any outfit and are my favorite everyday–and admittedly every night–pants for Winter.

BDG Mom Jean –$59.00

RE/DONE High-Rise Skinny Frayed Ankle Jeans-$250

Ok, I admit it, no, I don’t wear any tops other than bodysuits. I admit it and I’m proud! Bodysuits are just so easy and I tuck everything in anyway so this is the most seamless way to tuck-in and layer when it’s cold out! Bodysuits are amazing because you can wear them hanging out in jeans or with a festive skirt or trousers for a holiday party. A bodysuit, in my opinion, is the most essential item in any girl’s wardrobe–well, aside from nipple covers, but you get what I’m saying.

Commando Ballet Bodysuit-$74

ATM Ribbed Bodysuit-$195

I didn’t realize it before but I’m noticing that everything I’m mentioning is very transferrable from day to night and from casual to dressy. In that case, long cardigans are a perfect addition to this list. I count down the days until the weather finally allows me to reunite with my favorite Winter essential, the long cardigan. First of all, if you’re feeling frumpy and want to ‘blur your edges’ a little bit, there is nothing like a long cardigan that not only covers your butt, but also adds an unmatched slimming factor to any outfit. Secondly, they’re a cozy but not sloppy way to bundle up and I wear one every day either over jeans or any pants–looks great with heels when I’m feeling fancy.

Satin Skirts:

Silk skirts are just plain easy. I wear them all the time, whether I’m going out to dinner with a friend or celebrating thanksgiving this is the easiest way to dress up a chunky sweater or daytime outfit while staying comfy—which is always my #1 priority. They’re pretty, festive, holiday-ish and definitely perfect for Winter.

Plaid Pants:

Plaid pants are what I’d imagine I’d wear to the office every day if I didn’t work from home. I feel like there are infinite ways to wear plaid pants, they can be worn fancy or casual, with heels or white sneakers, with a sweater or tank, the opportunities are just endless. They add a great pop to any monochrome outfit and make you look like you tried, without actually having to.
